Taking Emotions Out of the Equation
Getting Ready to Sell "the House" The first step in getting your home ready to sell is to "de-personalize" it or to detach from the emotional value of your home. When talking with real estate agents, you will often notice that when they speak to you about buying real estate, they will refer to your purchase as a "home." On the other hand, if you are selling property, they will often refer to it as a "house." There is a very good reason for this.
Buying real estate is often an emotional decision, but when selling real estate you need to remove emotion from the process. You are not selling your “home”. You are selling your house as a marketable commodity. Property. Real estate. Your goal is to get others to see it as their potential home, not yours.
If you do not consciously make this decision, you can inadvertently create a situation where it takes longer to sell your property.
Also, make sure that you are 100% ready to sell. Before you proceed, you need to be sure that this is exactly what you want to do. Selling a home is serious business. It involves a lot of people and a lot of work. Plus, once you accept an agreement, you are legally bound to complete it. |
